Buffy and Madax had been walking for about fifteen minutes, all the while sharing stories of their victories and other battles. It had been quite interesting to hear about the things that they actually had in common. Such as having the 'pleasure' (not) to meet Glory. It hadn't been what she thought it would be, as he was actually good company. Sometimes it was nice to converse with someone who knew what it was like fighting and being in battle so often, living the life of a hunter. Although she did like her 'civilian' friends, she had begun to take a liking to Madax also. Though she knew that she had to keep in mind that he was still a demon, he didn't seem all that bad to her. But after their long night and long walk she had grown quite tired, and was happy to finally make it back to the apartment building.
She led him up the flights of stairs till they finally reached the top, where her and the gang lived. She stopped at the top and looked around, not seeing anybody. They were probably already asleep, as it was quite late. Next to her and Dawn's apartment was Xander and Andrews, then Willow and Kennedy's, then various other members of the gangs and other slayers. Realizing he had never told her where he wanted to stay, she turned to him; her face still beautiful despite the small cut on her cheek and the tiredness in her features. Smiling as best as she could under the circumstances she decided she might as well ask him before she passes out of exhaustion.
"So, do you know where you want to stay for the night?" She asked, her tone calm and serene.

As Madax walked in, he could easily sense the power of the other slayers inside. He looked around, his face an expression of curiosity. He did not need to sleep, nor eat like a human could. Though it didn’t mean he couldn’t, he just didn’t have to due to the fact that he never really ate before, even in his past when he was in full demon form. Madax looked around the area and finally decided on a room that he may want.
“Do you have anything with a window in the roof?” He asked, “I have been sleeping for millions of years and to awaken to the skies as they were when I first came to this dimension millions of years before is just a little hard to cope with. I may need time to get used to it, so anything with a window roof will do, or anything with a view.”
Madax stood still, silently looking around the rooms, amazed that they owned this place. He had been to many a place since being awoke, but never a place like this. He dangled the crucifix that he had recently bought in his hand, then looked at it again as he dangled it around.

Buffy thought about any apartments that had a skylight window. The only one she could think of was Giles, who was in England still. Honestly she didn't know whether or not he would mind, but she just figured he didn't need to know. He was the only one who had opted to own an apartment by himself, which he said he actually preferred. She missed him so much, as he was like a father to her. But he had said he needed to take care of some stuff, so she didn't want to bother him. She looked down to the end of the floor at his door and gestured for Madax to follow her. As they reached his door they saw 'Rupert Giles' printed on it, as she read this Buffy's eyes showed her sadness. She tried to hide it from Madax as she grabbed the doorknob, realizing it was locked and probably deadbolted also. Using her strength she easily broke through the locks and opened the door. She then gestured for Madax to go in as she followed.
"This is Giles' room, hes on leave right now. You can sleep here tonight, theres a skylight in the bedroom. If you need me i'll be down the hall, first door to the left." With that she gently kissed him on the cheek, why she didn't know, and then left the apartment.
As she began walking back to her own apartment she thought about how she would have to get the locks fixed before Giles returned. She would get to that later, right now she just wanted sleep. As she used her key to get in she waved hello to Dawn and stopped for a few minutes to talk. After a rousing battle of sarcasm with her little sister Buffy then went into the bathroom. She took a long hot bath to sooth her wounds and then exited to her bedroom, taking rest in her queen sized bed. As she slept her mind was peaceful, thinking of what they would do tomorrow.

As the door closed, Madax looked around the area. He sensed that Buffy was in a state of missing someone and sadness. She missed the man who stays in this room, and not just that, but her kissing him on the cheek made Madax feel something that he never felt before, humanity. This affection that the Slayer showed for him made him feel something inside that made him…tingle. It was an odd feeling, and he thought that the shell’s soul was taking a drastic effect on him. How these humans dealt with these emotions, he would never know. He looked above, looking through the window and at the skies above. The room was filled with an assortment of different books. Madax took three books from the shelves and began to read each of them in alphabetical order. Their pages contained the names of different creatures, spells, and even stories of magical trinkets that each looked familiar to Madax. Different Gods and Goddesses, some of them very familiar. Of the scores of books that Madax has read since becoming one with the shell, this man whose room he was staying in, had the most knowledge on things that Madax needed to know. It was amazing the things that were in these books too! As soon as Madax finished those three, he went on to read more and more, replacing each book in their proper place in exchange for another. This man also held information on certain Old Ones, Madax himself being one of the many creatures in these texts. For weaklings, these humans held much needed information on the creatures of today. As Madax finished the final book in the room, he had realized that he read well into the night and it was 3:42 A.M. Madax stood up, looking around for other items in the room, though being careful not to touch any.
Madax walked towards the door, touching the knob softly, and exiting the room. The younger of the Slayer, or sister in other words, Dawn, walked by. Madax greeted the younger one, and then sensed she had more magical potential then imagined. She was a key, and she was the one Glorificus searched for before the Goddess’ death. Madax greeted her kindly and walked past her, finding a way to the roof tops. As the door to the apartment’s roof opened, he looked around at the night skies, wondering what beauties he would find this night.

Buffy had gotten roughly about two and a half hours of sleep. This was surprisingly normal for her, as sleeping didn't come easily after everything she had done. As she arose from her bed she did some quick strething and then got dressed, putting on a black, backless top with jeans. She then exited her room and set some cereal out for Dawn before leaving the apartment. She left a note on the counter that said Xander would take her to school today, and then went downstairs to the training room. She walked over to her locker, behind her desk which was next to Giles', and took out her training clothes. Changing quickly she then began her vigorous workout, practicing speed, agility, precision, strength, and most importantly, concentration.
From there she finished up around three or four hours later. Then she went upstairs, still in her training clothes, and took a long, hot shower. She then changed into her clothes from earlier and pulled her hair up behind her into a ponytail. After doing this she walked out into the hall, looking for a sign of anyone. Dawn was at school, and Xander probably at work. Noticing this she began down the hall towards Madax's room to see if he was up yet.

Madax remained on the rooftops for a few hours, looking out at the land of Italy. At one time, Madax had a feeling that this place was once a massive battleground, and that the ruins of demons and such slumber miles below the soil. The sun looked down at the people of Italy, and then Madax realized that the slayer would soon want to know what he was and why he was looking for her. He turned to enter to apartment downstairs, descending until reaching a room in the basement. He entered to see the Slayer near his door.
“Sorry,” he said, “I did not realize that anyone would be awake. I am not used to humans sleeping. I never do, nor do I think I can.”
Madax walked closer to the Slayer. In the human form, he was only 5’11. Nowhere near his true form from long ago. Madax looked the Slayer in the eyes, his own human green eyes meeting her blue eyes. Walking closer towards her, he was silent. This human shell was only as old as her sister, whilst Madax’s true age was somewhere in the millions. He felt many pleasures in his long life, the pleasure of the fight, the kill and the torture. However, this benevolence that he now felt was different. It was pure, and real. Just like these odd feelings he felt for the Slayer. She was basically a human with pure demon powers, and he was an Old One with God-like powers. However, not even those powers could save him for what he was feeling. His new soul saw to that. All the while, Madax wondered why he felt this way and if he was sick. He opened the door to his room, finally removing the leather gloves and leather jacket, softly laying on his bed, revealing a pitch black shirt that fitted against the grooves of the shell’s bulky-built body.
“Is this…feeling that I feel natural to you humans?” he asked, “It feels as if a baby Olvikan has found its way into my shell’s stomach and is squirming around trying to get out. It sends shivers throughout my body, and then makes me feel things that millions of years ago I would have considered an abomination.”
The Old One was confused about his current state of emotion. He never had it before until he was close to defeating Illyria. Now, he had it with full force and it was making him feel, yet he was now okay with it. As if he was used to these feelings. He looked at the slayer, softly placing a hand on her face, the skin on the Old One’s body was warm. Very warm at that, and the feeling of the Slayer’s flesh against his hand sent shivers down his own spine.

After only a few feet from her apartment she'd come from she was met with Madax, in front of his door. It was as if they had been looking for each other, which made her feel more at ease. If there was one thing that bothered Buffy it was appearing needy, which she was not. Yes, she did need him, as he had the strength required to defeat whatever new evil there was. But then something else made its way into Buffy's mind, that she needed him for something else also. For something deeper then slaying, for something far more emotional. But for now she ignored the emotions and simply stood several feet away from Madax, her eyes wandering the room.
But something caught them, something in her eyes made her look in a certain direction. As she looked her eyes directed towards Madax who had been looking back at her, now both of them locked together by their equally mysterious orbs. As he made his way closer and closer to her she made no move to dodge him, instead she felt quite interested in seeing what he was doing. As he placed his hand upon her face a shiver like feeling made its way all the way down her body; though it was pleasant nonetheless. Surprisingly enough his skin was warm, her own warmness giving her a tickly feeling when met with his.
At first she wondered what feeling he could be talking about, what he meant by his words. Could it be love? Or possibly just infatuation decieving love. It was probably something completely different then what she was thinking, though she couldn't rule it out just yet. As her questioning eyes met with his own everything else seemed to go away. The new evil, her slaying, her killing, as it was referred to in her nightmares. Everything seemed to dissappear but the two of them. She leaned into his hand, her soft skin gently laying upon his hand and allowing him to hold her.
"If its love your talking about, then yes, it is natural to humans. Some find it in more....mysterious places then others." She answered him, her tone soft and serene as she hoped that she had answered his question at least some what.

Cordelia gazed up at the beautiful Italian apartment where the oracles has delivered her and sighed contently. Just to be sure, she reached out and touched the wall, smiling when she felt the cold brick against her hand. "I can feel again" she breathed, then stopped when she saw Buffy and someone she didn't recognise coming in her direction. She hadn't seen Buffy in years, but she knew that the slayer too had died not too long ago either. She was so happy to see her again, she was lost for words. She shook her head. Cordelia Chase, lost for words. "Hey" she managed, not sure if Buffy knew of her demise or not, and if she did, she probably wasn't expecting to see her there.

As Madax turned to look at the new comer, he could smell new life on her fresh body. She had been in the presence of the powers. A scent that Madax now had locked away in his mind like a dog. He went towards the door of the building, already wanting to know what the powers knew. Madax looked at Buffy and Cordelia and took a few steps towards the door of his room. He went in, took his jacket, and then appeared before the two again. Madax then took a step towards the rooftop door. Before leaving though, Madax turned to Buffy and said, “I’ll be back soon. This young woman has the scent of something nearly as old as me, people who could perhaps answer some questions of mine.”
Madax turned, making his way to the rooftop and then raising his hand. Instantly, the fabrics of reality itself began to open up into a portal of darkness, with the Old One walking right into it, before the portal itself closed completely. Madax was going to see the only people who knew what was going on with him: the Powers That Be.
