Spike is the "bad boy" sort. He has an attitude and loves to show it. But has recently gotten himself a soul and is now forever in love with Buffy. He will help where ever he is needed and will not take any crap from anyone.
Spike has only shown true affection or gratitude towards one "living" creature which is Buffy. Spike is her willing slave and has more than a trick or two up his leather bound sleeve.

Spike was a hopeless romantic as a human. He lived with his mother and wrote horrible poetry. Then Drusilla came into his life and she turned him into a vamp, He tried to turn his dying mother as well but she was nothing like the mother he loved. He then reeked chaos for centuries with Drusilla as his love along with Angel and Darla. When he came to Sunnydale it was to kill the slayer.
Well instead he got a chip in his head which made him unable to hurt a human. This is when he first really started helping out the Scoobies. He soon fell in love with Buffy and endured trials to get him a soul so he could be worthy of Buffy's love.
