Willow dialed the phone number to where Xander was supposedly staying in Scotland. She hadn't talked to him in decades it seemed. She was curious how he was doing and she missed him. As the phone continued ringing she thought about their times together. He had stopped her from destroying the world, for that she'd always be greatful, he was her best friend and companion throughout school well into adulthood. She missed having him there to cheer her up and make jokes when absolutely uncalled for.

Xander was getting home after a long day or working and had about a hour to chill before he had to return to Central Command. Just as he was laying down in his bed to relax his phone rang. Xander sighed as he stared at the phone for a few moments then finally picked up the phone and clicked it on and spoke "Hi, for those of you who just tuned in, everyone here is a crazy person trying to get some sleep, so if you have a message wait for the screaming to stop and chaos to settle or just wait for the beep...........beep." Xander then paused and listened to see who it was. He figured it was just another telemarketer and really did not want to tell them for the hundredth time to stop calling.

For a second Willow actually thought she had gotten the answer machine and almost left a message. Then she remembered him doing this all the time when she'd call him after school. "Hey Xander," she said excitedly. She was excited to talk to him and hear his voice. It had been way too long. She waited awhile and when he didn't reply she said, "So, how's it going over there?"

Xander sprang up from his bed when he heard the voice of a old friend a little shocked to hear from her but happy all in the same. In a friendly greeting he spoke "Willow is that you, wow it feels like only yesterday we were all together going out at night helping Buffy.....(In a sarcastic tone more to himself than willow he added) oh wait no actually yesterday was the lets destroy a demonic over sized beetle nest and get bug goo all over Xander which took 5 hours of showering to get off I might add...." Xander then snapped back and replied "Oh over here, its been great, fun fun fun all the time we have the ocean, night clubs, a really big bridge........yea who am I kidding Willow it sucks over here, everyday there is something new trying to either take over the world, destroy it, or just cause enough trouble that I actually have to show up at work.....anyway enough of the life of Xander story how have you been?"

Willo was smiling listening to him. She was so glad to hear his voice. "So, you're having fun?" she joked, "It's fine over here, lots of clubs and a mall." She was kind of llying but she didn't care. "I missed you and I thought I'll just call him and see what he's up to," she replied, "And did you say bug guts?"

"Bug guts is a understatement it was more like big snotty, gooey, demonic uuk." Xander said trying to avoid visual memory of the incident. "Yea I am glad you called, I miss you too. Its funny how time flys by and everything changes....sept of course me I mean why change perfection it does not make sense, heh heh" Xander finished with a awkward chuckle wishing that everything was back to the old times for a moment. "Well maybe we could arrange something you know, if there comes a day where evil takes a break maybe we can get the old gang together for a nice reunion or something." Xander tried to throw out unsure of how to word it.

After a short pause Xander finally had to blurt it out "Why don't you just come over here and work for-work with me. Buffy would love it and you would be a real help I mean the sorceresses and witches we have helping are alright but I mean there is no replacing you. You could be a real help and it would be nice to see a friendly face more often besides on a monitor screen." Xander said as sincerely as he could without sounding to abrupt.

"come on, you know I can't, Xand," she started, "besides I'm sure the witches there are ten times better than me." She could hear the sadness in his voice. He really missed her. "Surely you miss Buffy too, not just me," she joked. She missed him too but not nearly as much as she missed Tara. "Xand, how are you really?" she asked him, "And be honest."

Xander sighed then replied "Honest? This whole thing sucks, I spend most of my time looking into monitors watching over slayers aiding them with what ever need be but it just is too different. It does not mean the same not when it is without the ones closest to you. I feel like crap everyday becuase I go home....if I am lucky I go home only to remind myself that tommorow it is not going to be any better and that I am on my own. But I guess that is life isn't it. You wake up one morning and you take a look around and realize your friends and family are not always going to be there and ultimately you are on your own in the ever changing world."

"Xand, you always have us, no matter how busy we are," she told him, "You're my best friend and I love you, I'll always be there for you." She felt really bad now, she just wished Buffy was here to talk to him, but Buffy wasn't here. "At the end of the day I mostly think I am the lucky one and you all are just crazy people," she joked again. "Now, I'm not feeling the best here, cheer me up," she demanded.

Buffy had had a long night slaying and just honestly patrolling. Just the regular platoon of vamps and demons, but something had begun to wear her down. Her friends; she rarely seen them. She'd visited with Willow at a club a few nights ago, but that was it. Sometimes she missed how it used to be. She missed them just hanging out, whether it was high school, or even college. It seemed like the only times they were together was when there was an apocolypse. Honestly, if an apocolypse would bring her friends back together then bring it on. Because it was seriously beginning to affect Buffy; the emptyness she felt when she thought of her friends she rarely spoke with.
"Hey Guys, Xand, Will."[/b] She said as she approached the two, hugging the each tightly.
"I've missed you guys"[/b] She said softly, a tear forming in her eyes.
